About Us / Our Story

Built in the Fire. Worn with Purpose.

Crucible & Crown is a veteran-owned, owner-operated men’s grooming and fragrance company based in West Virginia, creating small-batch products for customers across the United States.

Old-World Feel. Everyday Grooming.

Inspired by old-world craftsmanship and meaningful design, Crucible & Crown products are made to be used every day—not displayed on a shelf.

How It Began

I did not begin with a business plan. I began by making beard oil for myself, driven by curiosity about the oils, resins, and fragrances I was reading about in Scripture. The company came later.

That curiosity opened the door, but it did not become a rulebook. Over time, the work expanded beyond biblical oils and resins into woods, smoke, citrus, leather, clean air, and more familiar masculine fragrances.

The goal is not for every scent to be overtly biblical or completely unfamiliar. It is for every release to carry character and feel like it belongs within the world of Crucible & Crown.

I served for 10 years in the U.S. Army across active duty and the Army Reserve, and I am a combat veteran. That experience shaped me, but it did not leave me with all the answers. Building Crucible & Crown has still meant doubt, lost momentum, and learning to return to the work when confidence is gone.

I am not a finished man. I can look back and see mistakes, failures, growth, love, and grace—and all of it has shaped who I am and what I am trying to build. Crucible & Crown was not born from perfection. It was born from the belief that a man can face what he has been, keep learning, and continue being refined. Where a man begins does not have to decide who he becomes.

The Meaning Behind the Name

A crucible is a vessel made to withstand intense heat while what is placed within it is tested and refined. To me, it represents transformation through struggle and the belief that character is often formed through difficulty rather than comfort.

The crown represents honor and victory, yet it is not mine to claim.

The crown belongs to Christ.

That conviction stands at the foundation of Crucible & Crown. You do not have to share my faith to be welcome here, but I will not hide the faith that gave this work its meaning.

Revelation 4:10–11

One Owner. Every Step.

Crucible & Crown is currently a one-person operation. I handle the product development, testing, preparation, bottling, labeling, packing, shipping, customer service, and daily work behind the brand.

Every release passes through my hands, and nothing becomes part of the collection unless I believe its scent, performance, and presentation belong together.

Even when a scent begins with a fragrance material available elsewhere, the finished experience should feel unmistakably at home within Crucible & Crown. The scent, strength, name, artwork, and presentation should work together—not as a gimmick, but as one intentional release.

Every product is selected, developed, and tested with care. I believe customers deserve clear ingredient information and honest claims—not vague promises or exaggerated marketing.

More Than Something That Smells Good

At the end of the day, these are grooming products. I understand that. But scent can carry more than fragrance. It can bring back a memory, offer a moment of peace, help someone feel more confident, or simply make a difficult day feel a little more manageable.

I cannot decide what a scent will mean to another person. I can only share with hope that, for someone, it becomes more than something that smells good.

Still Building

Every customer message is answered personally. If something is wrong with your order, you will deal directly with me, and I will work to make it right.

My hope is to build Crucible & Crown into sustainable work that allows me to be more present, provide for my family, and give back to my local community, fellow veterans, and people in need.

I do not know exactly what Crucible & Crown will become. I only know that I am still here, still building, and still trying to make something honest, useful, and worth sharing.
