Our Ingredient Philosophy
At Crucible & Crown, every ingredient should earn its place. I believe what goes on your skin should be as deliberate as the work behind the product—selected for purpose and held to a clear standard of quality.
Crucible & Crown draws from both traditional botanicals and carefully selected modern ingredients. Every product is developed through intentional selection, proportioning, adjustment, testing, and evaluation. A material is not treated as a finished Crucible & Crown product simply because it is available—the completed formula must meet the intended standard for scent, performance, character, and use.
Depending on the product, ingredients may include carrier oils, butters, waxes, botanical materials, essential oils, fragrance materials, and other functional ingredients appropriate for the intended application.
The guiding question is not simply whether an ingredient smells good or sounds appealing. It is whether that material serves the finished formula and helps create a product that performs properly and feels complete.
Sourcing Standards
Purposeful selection — Every ingredient should serve a specific function, whether that function is conditioning, cleansing, texture, absorption, stability, scent, or overall performance.
Established suppliers — Ingredients and aromatic materials are obtained from suppliers selected according to product needs, material quality, available documentation, and intended use.
Documentation matters — Supplier information, directions, warnings, and applicable usage limits are reviewed before a scented product is considered ready for release. This includes IFRA documentation where applicable.
Honest ingredient claims — Claims such as “natural,” “phthalate-free,” “paraben-free,” “cruelty-free,” or similar statements are made only when supported for the applicable ingredient or product. Natural origin is not treated as an automatic guarantee of safety or quality.
No animal testing by Crucible & Crown — Crucible & Crown does not conduct animal testing. Products are evaluated through practical use and personal review before release.
Quality Standards
Products are prepared in small batches, allowing closer attention to the finished result. Before a release becomes part of the collection, it is reviewed against the standards of Crucible & Crown.
A release may go through multiple versions before it is approved. Fragrance strength, balance, texture, performance, and presentation may all be adjusted until the finished product meets its intended direction.
Depending on the product, that review may include:
- Scent strength, balance, and development during wear
- Texture, absorption, cleansing, or conditioning performance
- Appearance and consistency
- Packaging and dispensing performance
- Supplier directions, warnings, and usage limits
- Whether the scent, formula, name, artwork, and purpose belong together
Nothing becomes part of the collection simply because the individual materials are available. The finished product must be developed, tested, and brought together as one intentional release.
Clear Information and Honest Claims
Transparency is part of the product. Ingredient information, directions, and warnings are provided on product labels and listings as appropriate. The label on the product received should be treated as the most current information for that item.
Crucible & Crown does not rely on unsupported medical, therapeutic, or disease-related claims. Grooming and fragrance products are not presented as treatments or cures.
Individual allergies and sensitivities vary. Customers should review the product label, ingredient list, directions, and warnings before use. Discontinue use if irritation, discomfort, or an unexpected reaction occurs.
A Living Standard
These standards will continue to develop as the product collection, available materials, documentation, and knowledge grow.
When an ingredient, process, or presentation can be meaningfully improved, it will be reviewed. Changes will be made because they strengthen the finished product—not simply to follow a trend or create a new marketing claim.
